Osprey

Osprey located along Southwest, Florida Gulf of Mexico, south of Sarasota and north of Venice. Known by historians by pioneers, John Greene Webb and his family, established a homestead on the shores of Little Sarasota Bay in 1867 the rich heritage of Historic Spanish Point located at the north end of Casey Key.

To experience the 140 year old pioneer heritage preserved at Historic Spanish Point in Osprey, visitors can tour the carefully maintained 1901 Guptill House, the reconstructed Mary’s Chapel, and a reconstruction of the Webb Citrus Packing House a 30-acre museum and environmental complex.

Osprey is the mailing address for the Oscar Scherer State Park and the new Scherer Thaxton Preserve, two of the few protected areas maintaining habitat. 

Osprey is also the location of the Blackburn Point Bridge, a one-lane bridge over the Intracoast waterway.
